Dr. Az completed his Doctor of Nursing Practice in Tucson at the University of Arizona and now serves as the Clinical Director of Peacock Mental Health. As a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), he is able to complete various mental health assessments, provide psychotherapy, and diagnose, treat, and prescribe medications for all ages. As a bi guy with ADHD, the judgment and assumptions he himself experienced in healthcare services, encouraged him to be open with patients through his work. After a decade of working in outpatient and hospital settings, he wanted to improve how mental health care was provided beyond his own client interactions. Alongside his business-minded partner, Peacock Mental Health began with just one appointment in December 2022. Creating a clinic where it is safe to be your full self, even for those people who are still discovering what that means, is at the heart of Dr. Az’ mission. Now a leader in the Arizona mental health and LGBTQ+ spaces, he is a conference speaker and trainer for other clinics, hospitals and as part of OutCare Health’s National LGBTQ+ Curriculum. In an effort to close the gap in affirming care education, he now provides affirming healthcare training as part of the Nurse Practitioner doctoral program at the University of Arizona.
